Life as a Little Sister

For the most part, Allie & Cam have a beautiful relationship.  He protects her, helps her, plays with her, loves on her.  He'll defend her when we're outside and someone takes her toy.  He'll share his candy with her and gives her hugs and say 'i missed you' when we get him from school.  He can make her laugh more than anyone else can, even her parents.  He calls her "Al's" and tells his friends all about her.  He tells her she's such a big girl when she does something new.  When she gets dressed and her hair is done, he says, "Oh Al's, you're so pretty.  Mom, look how pretty she is."

Wow...doesn't every little girl deserve a big brother like that?  To me, it's truly the #1 best thing about motherhood: watching your babies love each other.

But some days he wants nothing to do with her.  She follows him around, his little shadow.  She wants to be where he is, doing what he's doing, saying what he's saying....she copies his every move.  She thinks he's the coolest.  And he wants her out of his way.  Then she'll come crying to me with the most defeated cry ever.  I can tell she just wants him to pay attention to her and let her be near him.  He is her hero.

I'm always on her side.  Because I'm a little sister.  I know exactly how she feels.  Life as a little sister can be a charmed life...but it can be dramatic.  I know they will stay close forever though.  Because Cam has a heart of gold like his daddy.  Nate is still the best brother to his sisters....always checking up on them, asking how he can help, protecting and taking care of them, giving them good advice, sharing in their triumphs, always aware of what's going on.  And beating up on them....he and Megan have had an ongoing fist-fight for 6 years now...and they both have the battle scars to prove it!

Showing off his school artwork...in just a few days, we've covered nearly half the playroom wall with his creations!

My kids all seem to pretty much hate each other.

Beautiful pictures, as always. Love sibling love. There's nothing like it!
