Nate, the Triathlete

Nate completed his first sprint triathlon, and I am SO PROUD!  He rocked it.  And he's officially hooked!  I'm excited to not be the only fanatic in the house anymore!

It was a reverse tri, so he started with the run portion (a 5K).  It was really fun for me to be a spectator.  I loved watching the lead guys fly into the transitions.  When he finished the run, he hopped on his bike for 11 miles.  Once again, the lead guys were flying.  Athletes are awesome.

When he finished the bike, he stripped down and ran into the pool.  He's been practicing swimming, but I was still nervous for him!  He was tired!  But he did awesome and finished a whole 6 minutes ahead of his goal time, which is just amazing!  I'm so proud!

He is already signed up for another one in September.  Back-to-back events?  Sounds like someone else I know.....  We're addicted!!

Miller Park

We took the girlies to Miller Park yesterday morning.  I know I've posted lots of pictures from this park before, but I can never get over how beautiful it is.

Afterwards, Nate and I got to sneak away and play tennis for about an hour.  We haven't played in so long that our rackets literally had a layer of dust on them.  We actually played better than we thought we would though, which was fun.  Nate killed me with his awesome serves, but I got him back with my not-too-shabby backhand.  Hopefully we can play again before another several years go by!

Some fabulous friends are visiting!  More on them tomorrow...

태권도

We have always sort of joked around about putting our kids into 태권도, just because we spent so much time in Korea walking past dojo's and hearing all the cute little kids yelling out and kicking high.  Yesterday I spent the day in Lindon with Becky and her cutie boys.  Cole just started 태권도, and Becky was telling me how wonderful it is.  It teaches discipline and respect and is a great outlet for agression/high energy.  Um, hello....that is JUST what Cam needs!  Talk about an answered prayer!!!

So we looked into it and ended up taking him over to the Salt Lake Valley Tae Kwon Do studio for a free trial class.  He. Loved. It!!!  He did SO well!  I was VERY impressed with his instructor, and I can tell that he loves his students and has tremendous patience with them.  So we went ahead and signed him up!  My dear friend Ashley is going to watch the girls for me in the evenings when I take him, so this will be something that Cam and I can enjoy together.  Once again...answered prayers!

I am excited to watch him learn and progress over the next few years.  I feel so optimistic and excited that this is really going to help Cameron channel some of his crazy energy into something productive.

Cameron is 6!

Cam had a great 6th birthday!  He opened his presents, and then Nate took him to the zoo.  Then we went to Chik-Fil-A for lunch.  Then we headed to West Jordan to Jump N Bounce.  His cousins met us there, and Ashley and Robert came too.  We had dinner and his party at Nate's parents house afterward.  Then we came home, and he had his first Baseball game of the season.  Busy, fun, Herbie-filled day!

Final T-Ball Game

Wow, I can't believe 7 t-ball games have come and gone!  Where did July go??  It was such a fun little season for Cameron!  We loved going to his games as a family and cheering him on.  We are so proud of how well he did!  We love our little all-star athlete!

The last few games, the kids got to have the ball pitched to them instead of using the tee, if they wanted.  Cam spent lots of evenings practicing with Daddy and got pretty good!!  Here comes the ball....

Cam hit it past his coach, awesome hit!!

So proud of his trophy!

Cameron's First T-Ball Game

2nd post of the day...must be Summer!  So busy!!

I promise not to post about all 7 of Cameron's t-ball games this month, but tonight was his first game, so it's definitely worth documenting!  He woke up at 7 am and came into our room all dressed in his Red Sox shirt and hat.  He told me, "Mom, they didn't give me any red socks, so I'll just wear my Spiderman socks because they have red on them."  Haha, hilarious.  Luckily we had a busy day planned, otherwise I think he would have driven me nuts all day asking how much longer until his game time!  He was SO excited!

Nate had to work, and I had my 35 week OB appt.  So I drove with the kids down to Payson....such a LONG drive with the awful construction and my horrible back pain.  But we survived.  Everything looks good....I'm actually measuring at 36 weeks, which I was expecting because I swear this baby is going to be big.  I've put having a 7 lb or less baby completely out of my mind.  I have another appointment in 2 weeks, so it will be interesting to see what I measure then.

We had lunch with Grandma & Grandpa & my niece Ella was with us too.  Then we said bye to Grandpa and my mom took us up to Thanksgiving Point to play at the water park.  The kids loved it.

We got home just in time to scarf down dinner and head over to Cam's game.  Nate's parents and Mallory came up to watch, so nice of them!  Nate's family is one of the most supportive families I know, I love that.  Cameron did SO great!!  I wasn't sure how he'd do because he's usually so hyper and doesn't like to wait his turn for stuff.....but he was AWESOME!  Listened to his coach perfectly!  I was so proud of how quickly he learned to run the bases and how great he was with his team, taking turns and being friendly.

He started out by practicing throwing the ball to his coach.

Waiting for his turn to bat.

Cameron at bat!

Waiting at first base with Daddy - Nate helped out at first base.

Running Home!!

Each team got to bat and play in the field 3 times.  At the end, they made a cute huddle.  (Only a mother would call a huddle "cute"!!)

Go Red Sox!!!  Can't wait for next week!
