We Love...24

We missed Season 8 when it was on Fox last year.  So we patiently waited, and it finally came out on our Netflix instant queue.  And WE CAN'T STOP!  One of my favorite hobbies that Nate and I have together is getting hooked on a show that's on dvd or netflix (like Lost), and then we completely let it run our lives until it's over.  It's miserable and wonderful at the same time!!  Last night we stayed up until 2:30 am because we couldn't stop!!  We'll finish it tonight, and then sit around sad cuz we watched it too fast!!  24 is definitely our all-time favorite show.  Back when Cameron was a newborn, we started with Season 1 and ended up watching up to Season 5 in just a matter of months until we caught up.  If you don't know, 24 takes place in "real time"...meaning each season is 24 episodes.  Each episode covers one hour, so the entire season is one whole day.  Jack Bauer is definitely the best fictional character EVER....don't mess with Jack.

And one more thing I Love....my friends!!  You!!  Thank you for your encouraging words over the past 2 days.  I promise I have already been reading your comments over and over...they instantly lifted my spirits and were exactly what I needed to hear.  Thanks for being there for me.

Snowy Monday

We woke up to SNOW.  Cam came into my room and woke me up by saying, "Mom, it's snowing."  I turned over and said, "No it's not."  Nate smiled and said, "Uh...yeah it is."  It snowed all morning.  I passed the time by baking bread, scrubbing the bathroom, and trying to convince Nate that the Series Finale of LOST last night was good.  I mean, he thought it was good....but he just wanted more answers.  More closure.  I got my closure.  I'm happy with how it all ended.  I'm just sad it's over.  It has completely ruled our lives since we started Season One in January.  I can't imagine how people must feel who have been watching it for six whole years!  Wow, it was such an awesome show. What are we going to obsess over and anticipate now?  Oh well....atleast I have my own "personal Jack".  Last week Nate asked me how he should cut his hair, so I told him like Jack from LOST....so he did....oh yeah. haha!!  Just kidding....(kind of).   Now, if I could somehow make myself as gorgeous as Kate....we'd be set.  Oh how I love Jack & Kate.  I'm such a hopeless romantic...I need a good slap back into reality!!

Anyway, this afternoon the sun finally broke through and warmed everything up a bit.  I decided to walk the kids over to the Corner Bakery because they were driving me crazy in the house all morning.  I got some of their enormous, to-die-for M&M cookies, and I sat down with my babies to watch them stuff their cute faces with chocolate gooey goodness.  Right when we sat down, THIS song came on over the sound system.  Cameron's eyes lit up (as did mine), and he goes, "Mom, it's John Mayer!"  We rocked out, just the 3 of us, in our own little world.... Cam sang right along and even busted out the Na-Na part (hear it at 5:02).  My favorite part too, Cam.  Such an amazing performance.  His Live in LA concert must have been so so awesome to be at.  I've had this video on replay all evening.  Okay...needing that reality slap again...

A few days ago, we were in the car, and I put on Maroon 5.  I could see Cameron sort of dancing along in the back, but then he got a confused look on his face...he stopped and said, "Hey Mom, is this John Mayer?"  I said no.  He thought for a second and said, "Well...I like this...but I like John Mayer better."  Haha, that's my boy!  I told Nate that by next summer, we aren't going to be able to get away with going to JM concerts without our son. We haven't told him about the one in August because he'll probably beg to go with us....and as much as I love this kid...I'm not forking over that much cash for a 4 yr old to go to a concert.  I'll take him to the next one though....for sure.

Peek-A-Roo

Allison likes to play Peek-A-Boo behind the coat rack.  She'll poke her head out and yell "Boo!"
Have I mentioned that she's finally walking now?  Like really walking, as in it's her main mode of transportation from A to B.

Upcoming Plans/Goals:
  • Plant a garden (our complex gives us garden plots).
  • Learn how the heck to plant a garden.
  • Keep this alleged garden alive and use it's harvest to feed my family this summer/fall.
  • Organize Cameron's toys.  His bedroom drives me crazy.  You can't see the floor most days.  Plus, he has pulled his toy armoire over on top of himself TWICE....my heart has stopped beating two times now hearing that crash and seeing my poor boy underneath this piece of furniture.  I've since replaced the toys with our linens in hopes that he won't feel the need to climb up it to fetch a pillowcase!
  • Learn how to bake bread.  I'm getting a wheat-grinder from my parents for my birthday, and my goal is to never buy bread again.  I will keep you posted on this one, because there are several whole wheat bread recipes out there, and I'll let you know which one I end up liking.  I got a Bosch Mixer for Christmas a few years ago, and my goal to become my mother is well under-way.  Next on the list is to get canning supplies and a sewing machine.
  • Keep running.  I started running last week with my friend Sarah.  We have a 3-mile loop we run at 7 am.  It killed us last week, but we'll beat it soon.  My goal is to run it in under 30 minutes.  Then when I can do that, I want to run it twice nonstop.  Yes, another baby is in our plans, but until then, I'm gonna get FIT BABY FIT!
  • Now that the ridiculous Bachelor is over, I'm down to just two must-watch shows a week.  TWO!  That's a record for me.  LOST & The Office.  I was hooked on the Biggest Loser, but LOST got in the way since it starts halfway through, lame.  We also started watching 24, but we got behind and haven't caught up yet.  We'll catch it on hulu one of these days.  I'll miss my Monday night Bachelor gag-fests with my dear friend Noelle.  We would take turns baking delicious desserts and try to keep them down as we laughed hysterically.  That was fun.  We can't decide if we'll be able to stomach Ali for an entire season.....
  • I need new clothes.  Badly.  Especially pants.  I like to buy things for my kids and for Nate.  But I have a hard time spending money on myself, especially for good, quality clothes.  I'm embarrassed to say that several items in my closet have been there since before Nate & I got married.  I'm picky about my jeans.  I only like to buy them from the GAP because a) they fit/look the best, and b) they last forever.  But it's so hard for me to go drop $70 on a pair of pants right now.  I try not to whine too much about our current status as poor students....but lately I've been whining a lot....like every time I get dressed!!!
  • Lately I've been feeling like I'm getting dumber.  Seriously.  I've been thinking about taking a class or doing an online course.  My brain needs a workout.  Maybe I'll get out my medical assisting textbooks and re-learn anatomy and clinical procedures.  Or maybe I'll take a literature class.  Something....I'll keep you posted on that too.

Here's Why

Do you ever wonder why I don't post more pictures of Cam?
Here's why:

He either runs away.....

or ducks for cover.

Luckily sometimes.....he'll put on a good show.

******

I'm so exhausted.  I haven't had a full-night's sleep in nearly a month now.
Here's Why:

Every evening, our kids go to bed early.  Nate comes home from work, eats dinner, does some homework....and then it begins.

Jack
Kate
Sawyer
Locke
Hurley
Charlie
Desmond
Sun
Saayid
Ben
The Hatch
The Island
The Others
The Button
.
.
.
.
.
.
on and on the list goes as the plot gets more and more tangled, and the confusion keeps piling up with way more questions than answers......

Needless to say, Nate & I are:

LOST!

We are completely sucked in, and we haven't gone to bed before midnight, 1 am, 2 am....all month long.  We have 12 episodes left to finish Season 5.  The premier of Season 6 (the final season) starts on Tuesday.

Then I can finally. get. some. sleep.

(and yes, the many scenes of an airplane plummeting to the earth where awesome to watch...didn't make me nauseous at all!!)

And finally....

She's just yummy. Here's Why:

She likes to feed herself her oatmeal in the mornings now.
