Book Review & These Two...

...are CRAZY!!!  I'd been home for about an hour before I was ready for another getaway!!

Good thing they do enough cute and hilarious things to keep me from sending them (or me) to the funny farm!  They mean so much to me....covered in tomato soup or not!!

Helping mom unpack...my little Roo-sized suitcase!

When I'm at my computer, my back is to the living room.  Never know what I might find when I turn around...

This dude spends more time practicing dribbling and shooting than I'm sure half the NBA players do.  He just doesn't tire of it!  He talks about basketball to anyone who will listen...and out on our basketball court, he'll walk right up to anyone playing (even if it's a bunch of men) and ask if he can play.  If this little basketball jersey is clean, he refuses to wear anything else.  We keep sort of waiting for his obsession to die off, but it only gets deeper, and we're pretty stoked about how awesome he's going to be when he's old enough to "really play".

Anyway, this morning Cam rode his bike and I pushed Roo to the library.  It's fun now that Cam is old enough to obey and stop and stay by me when we cross streets.  It took us a long time to get to this point!  My kids are CRAZY at libraries...so I never can stay long, but Cam had fun picking out a book, and I enjoyed the walk/jog.  I think we're going to go a few times a week all summer.  Join us!!  I've been forcing myself over the past few months to put reading back at the top of my hobby list.  It's hard with kids...they don't exactly let you sit and read.  But I've been taking books with me wherever I go and keeping the television off, and I'm falling back in love with my old friend.  I'm also finding that my personal style & favorite book genres are changing.  Fiction is no longer my go-to type of read.  I'm beginning to lean towards non-fiction like biographies, books on finance & nutrition, and true adventure stories.  Especially true stories about backpacking & climbing, such as "The Hill", "Into Thin Air", "A Walk in the Woods" and "Between a Rock and a Hard Place."  These people fascinate me.  And the geniously-written "Marley & Me" easily secured a place in my Top 5 favorite books ever.  But I'm still a fiction-lover, as the adventures of Scout, Jem & Dill will always hold the top spot in my heart!!  My list of "to-read" books is growing every day, and I'm excited to check them off.  So keep the recommendations coming!!  I'll post my personal book reviews as I go along.

So I just finished John Groberg's "The Other Side of Heaven."  For the 3rd time.  If you think you don't need to read it because you've seen the movie, well, you're very wrong.  It is a powerful, powerful book.  He has an amazing gift to see God's hand and learn lessons in every moment of life.  At the end, I found myself wanting to slow down, de-clutter, ponder more, study more, become closer to God and love others with a deeper love.  It's an easy read, with short chapters, entertaining stories, and a glimpse of the beautiful Tongan culture.  It made me miss my mission immensely, almost to the point of tears.  I'm so grateful I have a husband I can vent to about how much I miss Korea and being a full-time missionary.  He understands better than anyone.  I consider my mission such a beautiful gift.  Heavenly Father still allowed me to attend school, marry, have babies, create a home...but along the way, He gave me these 18 months that I would never trade or give back for anything.  I am grateful every single day for my mission.  Anyway, I give John Groberg's book 5/5 stars.  If you let it, it will improve and change you in a very beautiful way.

ps...Yes, the JM playlist is back...did you miss him?  I did.

I loved reading this. I love that you're a reader!!!! Have you read, "Dewey"? It's about a town library's cat. Heard it's heartwarming like Marley and Me. On my list.......like many others.

Thanks for the suggestions......more for that long list!
