When I first got married, a friend of mine told me, "I'm surprised you married such a quiet guy. I always thought you'd marry someone who is really sarcastic and loves to laugh, like you."
My first thought was Um okay, rude.
My response was Just because he's shy on the outside, doesn't mean he's not the funniest guy ever. I wouldn't have fallen in love with and married him if I didn't think he could make me laugh every day.
Nate does make me laugh every day. His quirky, subtle humor makes me so happy. It's awesome. He's going to probably kill me for posting some of these, but I want to remember them.
1. One night I made a new recipe for dinner. I ate it before Nate got home from work and didn't like it, so I called him to apologize that dinner would be gross that night.
He said, "That's okay, I'll eat it. I lived in Korea, I can eat anything after that."
Gee, thanks. It wasn't that bad...
2. Becca: "John Mayer would never date me anyway, so don't worry that I think he's hot. It'll never happen."
Nate: "If I were John Mayer, I'd date you."
Thanks, Hon.
3. Becca: "If John Mayer makes it to heaven, do you think he'll play a concert for me?"
Nate: "You won't need him to play for you in heaven. Because it's heaven....I'll be as good as him there, and I'll just play for you."
Awesome. And hopefully true.
4. Nate: "I can't listen to John Mayer while I study cuz I don't get anything done."
Becca: "I know, I've been telling you that for years."
Nate: "Well, it's his fault for being so dang good...."
Becca: "Yeah, we'll just blame John for everything if you fail all your classes!" (which he's not, just so you know!)
5. Nate: "What movie are you going to see?"
Becca: "Morning Glory."
Nate: "What's that?"
Becca: "A chick flick."
Nate: "More like Boring Glory."
6. Teach For America is abbreviated 'TFA' (obviously). Nate got an email from the admissions at TFA to schedule a phone interview with him (yay!).
Becca: "Hey Nate, go answer your letter from TFA."
Nate: "I got a letter from Tina Fey?"
Okay, sorry Nater, I'll stop. There's a million more though.
I love my man. I couldn't have married anyone more perfect for me. He is working SO hard for his family right now. He works 30+ hours a week, spends 9 hours a week in his classrooms, he has a 2-hour class on campus every Thursday, he is studying for his 2nd Praxis exam he's taking tomorrow (he's been studying for months for that), and none of this includes his homework and lesson planning. And he's never studied on a Sunday. Ever. He also has Church duties and occasionally squeezes in a jog or some basketball. And of course the occasional video game night. I'm pretty sure he eats and sleeps a little too.
Oh yeah, and he has a wife & two kids. He'll walk in the door after a long day, run over to me, and put his earphones in my ears so I can hear the end of "Bold As Love" before he takes off his shoes or coat. Last night he watched the kids while I spent 8 hours with one of my best friends. He sends me sweet texts and facebook notes during the day. He lets me keep my towel closest to the shower so I don't have to reach as far to get it. He gets loads from the dryer for me (our laundry room is sort of far away...not really, but sort of). He stops on his way home from work and grabs milk or bread so I don't have to haul the kids out for one item. Wow, I feel so selfish!!
But really, I just feel very lucky & humble to have somehow snagged this amazing, gorgeous man.
Auggie turns one!

haha! ...Tina Fey.. Cute stuff.
Cute! I think it's awesome that he doesn't study on Sunday. Look at how blessed your family is for that sacrifice.
Isn't it amazing how much God blesses us when we allow HIM to choose the man who is best for us????
You are a BLESSED woman indeed to have Nate in your life! And I'm quite sure he feels exactly the same way about you...
My son is a lucky man to have you Becca. Thanks for being such a wonderful wife and mother.
I LOVE your love for him!!!!!
