Saturday & Sunday

Saturday was a Lounge Day in the Wood home.  We stayed in comfy clothes while Daddy was at work and didn't leave the house.  Cameron drew pictures of Spiderman...

...and hung up 'webs' all over our house!

Roo (& mom) enjoyed a bad hair day, but was all smiles either way!

This was the scene from the kids' bedroom on Saturday evening.  This eerie blanket of clouds.

And this was the scene on Sunday morning!

Roo was fascinated and spent most of the morning watching the snow.

And then she put herself in Time-Out.

We made pancakes for breakfast and got ready to go.  We drove downtown to Temple Square.  We had Stake Conference at the Assembly Hall with Elder Ballard.  Even though it's been somewhat renovated, it was still cool to meet in a building where the early Latter-day Saints met back in the late 1800's!  I love how unchanging this Gospel is.  The Lord's Church runs the same as it always has, because it's His church, not man's.  He is the head of it and uses his prophets and apostles to do His work.  He lives and is still guiding His people on the earth, just like He always has and always will.  Cameron loved seeing the temple, he kept asking to touch it and go inside.  I love how children naturally feel a love for Jesus and want to be close to Him.

Each of the speakers spoke about marriage and family.  Elder Ballard gave comforting advice to parents, promising us that our hard work isn't going unnoticed.  He challenged each couple as husband and wife to kneel together, hold hands, and say a prayer every night.  He said that NO prayer is more powerful than the united faith of husband and wife praying for inspiration for their family.

Roo & her bucket o' binkies!

In the afternoon, we went to Kurt & Patty's house for an early Thanksgiving Dinner.  Nothing beats a classic Thanksgiving Turkey dinner!  We stuffed ourselves full.  Highlights included Megan copying Preston's every move for about 30 minutes straight....that girl is hilarious!  We lost Roo, and Nate's mom finally found her in the master bedroom closet with the door shut in the pitch black....just standing there sort of stunned.  Poor Roo!  And watching both kids give loves to Grandma and Grandpa.  Roo snuggled right up to Grandpa before we left and looked so peaceful.  I love it!  I'm so glad my children know and love all of their grandparents so much!

Nate submitted his Teach for America application last night.  On January 12, we'll get an email saying if he's been selected to move on or not.  It's going to be a long 2 months for me to wait for that....  Patience is NOT one of my strengths!  However, it IS one of Nate's strengths, so when I'm in a full-on panic attack over whether or not we're going to make it, he calms me down and promises me that it'll be okay.  I'm trying to sit back and have faith....  But I'll just warn you now, that if Nashville gets taken away from me for a 2nd time, just don't even bother trying to console me because I'll be a mess for quite awhile!  It was over a month from when we found out about the TN licensing problem until when we heard of TFA, and that was a rough time, no matter how much I tried to pretend I was okay with it.  I need faith...faith....FAITH!!

Anyway...Nate is gone for the next 2 days straight, cramming work and school hours in before the Thanksgiving break.  Can't wait for more food and more time with the ever-entertaining Wood Fam on Thursday!  So I'm getting my house in order, taking the kids outside for some fun in the snow, cooking and baking like a mad-woman and working on a little experiment for the next little while....  Have a great week!

Tell Cameron I feel the same way about Temples. I ALWAYS touch the Temples when I visit them! Especially the Salt Lake :) It seems cheesy but it's SUCH a cool thing to do. To touch something created and loved by our Heavenly Father! You're kids are just cuties!

I love your journaling- and I adore the pics! The picture of Cam coloring and the pic of Roo watching the snow are my faves- you take such great photos!

Thanks for posting the challenge to kneel and pray together each night- I am going to share this with Kurt and add it to our Book of Mormon challenge!

Thank you for sharing your blog, Becca- it really inspires me =)

I agree Mellissa, we are making the Elder Ballard challenge a priority too. I told Nate that if TFA doesn't work out, then it'll be easier to feel peace if we have prayed and read scriptures EVERY single day. If we're doing our part, then we will have NO doubts that the Lord's blessings will be with our family. But if we're slacking on our part, then we'll be putting too much of our fate in man's hands instead of God's. NOT WORTH IT!! :)

Hey! Is Cameron left handed? Hope you guys enjoy playing in the snow. Too bad we didn't get more than an inch. The next few days we should get a bunch though. Yay for season change!!!

Yeah Becky, he's a lefty! I love it! He kicks a ball with his left leg too. Roo is a right-handed so far, she loves to draw.
