Special Date Night

Last night was our monthly ward temple night.  And for the first time in 3 years, Nate finally didn't have to work!  So we jumped at the chance to go with our ward, and not just by ourselves, like we normally do.  It ended up just being our Bishop and his sweet wife, and us.  It was really great to have the chance to visit with them during dinner.  Their daughter is leaving next week on a mission to Scotland/Ireland, so they had lots of questions for me.  I assured them that she will have the time of her life and will spend the rest of her life wanting to go back!  After dinner, we did sealings, which for those of you who don't know, is the marriage ceremony performed in the temple.  We act as proxy for those who have passed on, so that they can recieve the blessings of being sealed together for time and all eternity.  It's a wonderful experience to dress in the exact same white clothing that I wore when was married to my Nate, and to be with him again in that setting.  When I married Nate 6 years ago, I remember not really caring what my wedding dress looked like or what my reception was like because I knew none of that really mattered.  I just wanted to wear my white temple dress and be with my sweetheart forever.

Last night, we were at the Salt Lake Temple, and I thought we were going to go to the usual sealing rooms, but the worker at the temple ended up leading us through the Celestial Room, up some stairs, through some offices and rooms I'd never seen, and into this little sealing room that was tucked away.  We weren't sure why this room was away from the rest (does anyone know?  Tell us if you do...!), but it held a special Spirit that we could feel strongly.  Our sealer was President Dalton, who used to be in our stake presidency over our University ward, so we knew him.  Between names, he would talk to us and teach us about the symbolic nature of the temple....the principle of ascension, moving upward from baptism up to the sealing.  I loved being there with Nate.  He is so beautiful.  Hearing the words of the sealing ceremony again struck me.  A temple marriage is not "just a temple marriage."  What you are promised if you remain faithful is almost impossible to believe.  God lives, and His work goes so much deeper than we can comprehend as mere mortals.  It is real.  I know it is true.

Yesterday morning, I was lying on the sofa, trying to keep breakfast down, and Roo and Cam were both sitting next to me.  I just looked at their gorgeous faces and felt so much love for them.  And then my love grew even more as I thought about a 3rd little sweetie joining our family.  I had a dream a few nights ago that it was a girl, another dark-haired beauty, she looked just like Cam.  But I still think it's a boy...

Every little boy needs Spiderman Pjs!

Nice diaper head, Roo!

Love reading about your religion and how happy it makes you. Thanks, as always, for sharing!

I hope that's a clean diaper! :)

I love when the sealer takes time to teach. It really adds to the experience. I miss being close to temples. The 6-7 hour roundtrip drive has really diminished our attendance. We can and should do better though.
