So anyway, despite all that, there were some great weekend highlights to keep us all going.
On Thursday afternoon, Nate didn't have work, so we headed to the Zoo. We haven't gone up there in forever, and the kids had fun on the train, carousel, playground and seeing the animals. I was so sore and exhausted after 2 hours of walking, but knowing that we were having CAFE RIO for dinner gave me the strength to keep going!! Yum.
On Friday, I took the kids up to Merilee's house. It was so fun to visit with her again, it's been too long! Our kids had fun playing. She has a low swingset in the backyard, so Allie could sit and push herself on the swings. She stayed out there for an hour straight just swinging away! On our way home, we stopped at the hospital and ate lunch with Daddy in the cafeteria. When I was growing up, "going out to eat" meant my mom would haul us down to the hospital to eat with my dad!! A) It was cheap, and B) My dad was on-call most evenings, so it was our only chance to eat as a family! Anyway, Nate loved having us hang out, so I think we might make it a weekly lunch date during the summer. The kids spent the rest of the day outside playing with squirt guns and the kiddie pool.
On Saturday, Nate took the day off work (yay!) and we took the kids bowling. That evening, our Village complex hosted a carnival, complete with bounce houses, pizza, popcorn, raffles and sno-cones. Cameron had a blast in the bounce houses, and I think I ate more popcorn than anyone there!
On Sunday, we spent the entire afternoon as a family outside. Nate and I sat in our lovely lawn chairs, side by side with our books, and the kids played their little hearts out. It was so relaxing, and I can't wait to do that all summer long. Nate is reading Mitt Romney's book, and I re-read "These Is My Words". I read it last summer, and loved it so much that I decided to read it again. I can't believe how much I LOVE that book! I finished it last night, and I'm really sad it's over. I always have a hard time starting another book after I read something I love so much. Nate and I chatted some more about baby names and came up with another name for the Girl list. So the current tally is: Girl list - 4 names, Boy list - 1 name! Hoping for a boy simply so we don't have to choose a name!!
Sunday afternoon wagon ride - Precious cargo, that Roo! |
Cameron and his pal, Gabby. |
Well...I'm going to sign off now. Do you want to know why? Because Cameron has TWO days of school left, which means Mom has TWO lazy afternoons left of watching hgtv and chick flicks and eating junk food and lying on the sofa while Roo naps. Pure Bliss. So I'm soaking up every. last. second....then it's officially Summer!

It was so fun to see you guys! I miss you already!
I would have eaten more popcorn! I wish we could watch the Castle finale together tonight!
Haha DeAnn, we are the QUEENS of eating insane amounts of popcorn VERY quickly! Remember Vegas? HAHA!! No one else had a chance!
And poor Cam, about an hour after I wrote this, I had to go pick him up from school because he was sick...first time ALL year he's gotten sick, and it's his very last week! Sad.
I love coming into Summer with good weather and activities outside, but I'll also miss the breaks with the kids at school! It's bitter-sweet...
This weekend really was perfect! I am glad you guys were able to spend some time out in the sun!!
Sounds like fun! Sitting outside reading a book sounds simply wonderful, maybe I should start doing that!
