Tristan Blankets

When Cameron was born, we lived in our house in West Jordan.  We hadn't lived there very long, so I didn't really feel like I knew anyone or had any close friends yet.  When Cam was only a week or two old, there was a knock on my door.  To my surprise, it was my neighbor from across the street, Tristan.  She had a baby gift for Cam.  I opened it, and it was an adorable fleece alphabet blanket.  I was so touched by her kindness and how she gave such a sweet gift to my baby when she and I didn't even really know each other.

Well, over the next year, Tristan and I became very close friends and hung out almost every afternoon.  She became my confidant and my favorite person to talk to about all of the hardships of being a new mother.  She has 3 children of her own, and I love having a friend I can talk to about the "Real" issues and stresses of life.  Everyone needs a friend like that.  Plus, she's hilarious, and that's one of my favorite qualities in anybody!

Sadly, her family moved to California a year later.  And we moved up here to Salt Lake City.  As Cameron grew, he came to love his "letters blanket", as he calls it.  He still sleeps with it every single night.

When Miss Roo came along, Tristan was kind enough to make a blanket for her too.  Both kids love snuggling up at night with their fleece blankies.  They both have other blankets, but their "Tristan blankets" are their favorites.

Sweet Tristan continued the tradition with Claire too.  Her blanket arrived yesterday, and it is so beautiful.  It means so much to me, especially because it's been years since we've hung out, and sadly none of my kids even know her.  Cam was too young to remember her when she moved away.  It makes me sad, and I miss my friend!!  I love you Tristan!!

Mom: "Make a funny face, guys!"
I was laughing so hard.  Man, how I love these three!  Cam, you are hilarious!!!

Becca, your post made me tear up! I'm glad we're still good friends even though I moved away. It's amazing how many West Jordan people I stay in touch with. Good times.

I have never seen the girls blankets, but I have always loved Cam's. What a great friend she is! And I LOVE the picture of Cam making the silly face. It makes me laugh SO hard! It looks like a cartoon or something... :)
