Runner Cam

On Saturday morning, we had our annual Stake 5K.  I have run it the past 2 years, but this year, I told Nate to run it and I'd watch the kids.  When I signed him up, Cameron told me that he wanted to run it too.  I feel bad now, but I told him that 3 miles is a long way for him!  But he was determined, so I signed him up.  I was nervous about it, especially since Nate was going to actually race it, so he wouldn't be staying with Cam.  Isaiah and his dad were also running it, so I figured Cam could stick with them.

The girls and I headed down to watch the finish line.  Nate finished up just as we got there with a 26:19.  Kills me that he can run that with so little training!!  Go Nate!

Then we saw Cameron!  To get to 3.1 miles, they ran the Foothill loop, and then had to run 3 laps around the church.  Cameron did AMAZING!  He ran the entire 3.1!  He didn't stop early or complain about the three laps.  He stuck it through, and I was SO PROUD!

He finished with a VERY respectable time of 35:45!  I usually run a 5K in about 31 minutes!  Not too shabby for an 8 yr old!  I love it.  They handed out prizes, too.  Cameron was first in the Juniors Division (there were only two kids!), and he won a gift card to the Corner Bakery!  Score!

I am SO proud of him.  He was so excited and has already been asking to run more 5Ks.  My little runner!
