Labor Day Weekend

We took a "kahp-jah-gi" trip to Glenwood with my parents for Labor Day. It was a quick, spur-of-the-moment trip, but we really wanted Cam to have one last Glenwood excursion before Fall. We had a great weekend with good food and good conversation. It was fun to visit with my mom a lot.

We drove to Salem on Sunday afternoon and picked up my parents. Then we all piled in the van and headed down to Glenwood. We ate enchiladas and fruit salad for dinner, then went to visit Aunt Pat and Uncle Glen. They live just a few blocks from my parents house. They have horses, chickens, cats, a dog, a trampoline, a basketball court, and a playground. My kids had a blast running around!! We fed apples to the horses, the kids jumped and played, and I got to snuggle the kitties. Then we went back to the house for peaches/ice cream, put the kids to bed, and dove into some books and enjoyed the cozy quiet.

My kids always wake up so early at Glenwood....especially Cam, he's just so excited. So I was beyond thrilled when Cam slept in until 7:30, and Roo until 8:30! We had whole wheat pancakes for breakfast, and then headed outside for the day! We went on 4-wheel ride after 4-wheel ride. The kids couldn't get enough!! The second we'd pull back into the driveway, they would start begging to go back out!! If we weren't 4-wheeling, we were playing baseball, at the park, swinging on the Glenwood tree, or I was reading or playing Scrabble with my mom! Seriously, Glenwood is the life!

Late morning, my dad took Cam, and we sandwiched Roo between Nate & I and took a ride up to the reservoir. It was Allie's first "off-road" excursion, she loved it! My dad put some fishing lines out, and we spent about an hour just hanging out, skipping rocks, exploring. Just as we were getting ready to head out, the fishing line tugged. So Cam got to reel in his first fish!! He was SO excited! Poor little fish, I hate watching them die. But I have to admit, he was tasty...we ate him for lunch back at the house!!! Freshest fish I've ever eaten, and it was delicious!

Cam's 4-wheelin' face

Allie's first fishing trip too!

Once again, Nate delivers on the photography...

Cam reeled his fish all the way in!!

Proud Grandpa & Grandson with their catch!

We had steak and grilled corn on the cob for dinner before heading home.  Fun weekend getaway!!  We love Glenwood!
