Best Friends

Last night Cameron put his arm around Allie and said, "You're my buddy. You're my girl."

This morning, he said, "Mom, I had such good dreams last night. I dreamed about Allie."

Mom: "Cameron, I know you want a boy baby, but if it's another girl, will you still love her?"
Cam: Sigh.... "Yes, I will. I will be a good brother to her, she'll be my baby just like Allie is."

I feel like a walk down memory lane:

They are such a great pair! I loved having a boy as the older brother. Such love for his younger siblings.

So cute!

So I know you've been writing a lot about motherhood, and I bought the book "Created For Greater Things" by Elder Holland and there are a few quotes on motherhood that I'd like to share:

"Our children take their flight into the future with our thrust and with our aim. And even as we anxiously watch that arrow in flight and know all the evils that can deflect its course after it has left our hand, nevertheless we take courage in remembering that the most important factor in determining that arrow's destination will be the stability, strength, and unwavering certainty of the holder of the bow."

"Live the gospel as conspicuously as you can. Keep the covenants your children know you have made. Give priesthood blessings. And bear your testimony! Don't just assume your children on their own will somehow get the drift of your beliefs."

"Teach your children that many of the blessings of the Church are available to them because you and they give tithes and offerings to the Church. Teach them that those blessings could come virtually no other way."

"I especially wish to praise and encourage young mothers. The work of a mother is hard, too often unheralded work... Do the best you can through these years, but whatever else you do, cherish that role that is so uniquely yours and for which heaven itself sends angels to watch over you and your little ones."

"Try not to compare your children, even if you think you are skillfull at it. You may say most positively that "Susan is pretty and Sandra is bright," but all Susan will remember is that she isn't bright and Sand that she isn't pretty. Praise each child individually for what that child is and help him or her escape our culture's obsession with comparing, competing, and never feeling we are "enough."

"Everything Christ taught He taught to women as well as men. Indeed, in the restored light of the gospel of Jesus Christ, a woman, including a young woman, occupies a majesty all her own in the divine design of the Creator."

That is a great quote Ashley. I may borrow it some time. Your kids are the sweetest. What a great example!
