Ohio Getaway

Spent a fun week in Ohio with DeAnn and her family.  I loved getting to know her kids.  It's been several years since I'd even seen Natalie and Megan, and I was shocked at how grown up they are now!

Highlights:

-15/50 minute airport trip.  "Um, I think it's been longer than 15 minutes."  "No, I said 50 minutes!"
-DeAnn mis-hearing me:  cervically/acerbically, inner/thinner  "I feel acerbic." -Natalie
-Eating Claire for dessert "I want her cheeks!"  "I want her thighs!"  "I want her feet!"
-Total Eclipse of the Heart music video, the literal version. "slo-mo dove",  "mullet with headlights".  This is HILARIOUS.  Watch it here.
-Playing Ticket to Ride and beating DeAnn and Natalie twice.
-Claire's first tooth came through (bottom-left)!
-Claire said "Mama".
-Montana Summer - thin pants and medium-built fathers and peach sweaters and sharing water bottles (don't ask).  WORST book ever.  Although it provided DeAnn, Jonathan and I with lots of laughs.
-Running with my sis...just like the good ole days.
-Watching Megan draw, she's so good!
-Fry Pies!!  The Amish make these amazing pies that we inhaled. "Natalie, just take the pies and RUN!!"
-The welcoming fridge
-"Are you talking to me?" "You look like you're photo-shopped!" - Crazy, Stupid Love
-Mini-roadtrip to Niagara Falls, first time to New York!
-Getting pelted on Maid of the Mist, so fun.  Claire was the hit of the boat in her little poncho!
-The hilarious genie on DrawSomething
-Olive Garden soup and salad lunch.
-Sun-dappled montages on The Lucky One. (dumb movie, by the way, and don't let your Zac Efron-loving teenage daughters go to it....makes me sad to see what is passing as PG-13 nowadays!)
-Kirtland and the John Johnson farm.  My testimony has been truly strengthened on this trip.
-DeAnn!!  I LOVE HER!!!  I wish I could shop and run and hang out with her every day.

Trip Pics:

A family walk to Lake Erie, the evening I arrived.

John Johnson Home

The room where Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon received several sections of the Doctrine & Covenants and also where Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to them.

On a whim (sort-of), we decided to take a little day-trip to Niagara Falls.  We obviously stayed on the New York side, but it was SO SO awesome.  Very worth the 2.5 hour drive!

Kirtland!  DeAnn lives 30 minutes from here.  This is the store where the School of the Prophets was held, and where several sections of the Doctrine & Covenants (including the Word of Wisdom) were received.

The Kirtland Temple!

Fun trip.  I wish I could live next door to DeAnn and just hang out with her every day.  Hopefully I can see her again soon!  What a great week, but I do miss my Nate and Cam and Roo, so I'm anxious to get home!

Awesome trip, awesome laugh list! I put all the pictures in Nate's dropbox so you can copy and paste any that you want onto your own computer. Hope the flights home were okay.
