Staci and I ran 9 miles this morning. Staci is so perfect to run with because we can chat about books or our kids or running or whatever, but then we both sort of can sense when one (or both) of us just need to run in silence and just breathe. She always keeps me motivated too: "You're doing great!" "This hill is almost over!" Things like that! Every runner needs a Staci. :)
I had a little bit of pain in my lower calf around mile 7, but then it went away. I am really starting to enjoy these longer runs. The first 3-4 miles usually drag, but once you hit about mile 5, the miles seem to just start flying by. I've been bringing electrolyte water to sip, and I take some energy chews about every 3 miles. That has all been working well for me, so I'm just planning to do that same thing during the race. We are going to run along the actual half marathon course next Monday to get a feel for it. One downside to where we live is that it's almost impossible to end our runs on a downhill. Almost every road going to our complex is a slight incline. BUT maybe it's a good thing because we feel pretty confident on hills. I'm SLOW, but I can run them without stopping, no matter how long they are. Today our last 4 miles were almost ALL uphill. So running flat or downhill feels SO easy now. The half doesn't have much uphill at all, so we're hoping it'll feel a lot easier than these training runs do!
DOUBLE DIGITS next Monday! I can't wait!!!
Sick of my running posts yet? :)

That last picture reminds me of Cross Country in high school. We used to do hills like that... AAHHH. Hahahaha.
