Ohio Getaway 2013

Sad my trip is over!!  I missed my kids and my Nate like crazy, but still...it's always kind of a bummer to look forward to something for weeks and then it's over!!

On the way there, I was supposed to fly through Denver.  When we got on the plane, they asked for volunteers to get off the plane because there was really bad snow in Denver, and they needed to lighten the plane so they could add more fuel.  You BET I got myself offa that thing!  So they flew me through Houston instead, and I got a $400 voucher from United.  Score!

That got me into Cleveland about 4 hours later than I would have, so it made for a late night for DeAnn and me, but it was fine.  Church the next morning was great.  There are 4 elders and 4 sisters serving in that area.  They are wonderful!!  I love missionaries.  We had the elders over for dinner that night, and then had the sisters over on Friday.  I love non-Utah Mormon living!!

I skyped with Nate and the kids a few times.  That helped me relax a lot because I could see that the kids were happy.  Claire, especially.  She did great!!  My parents ended up taking Cam to Glenwood at the end of the week, and he had a BLAST.

The rest of the week, we really didn't do much, which was GREAT!  I took lots of naps, slept in, read and just hung out.  We went to see Safe Haven and ate a ridiculous amount of movie popcorn.  DeAnn and I became sort of obsessed with Josh Duhmel, so we went and rented a ton of movies for the week.  We went running once and did our arm workouts, but the weather was really horrible...freezing and snowy, so we slacked on running more.

We went to the Kirtland Temple on Saturday.  I didn't get to do that last time I was there.  It was so amazing.  I can't wait to study Doctrine & Covenants 109 and 110 better now.  Megan came with us, so we got lunch at Olive Garden afterwards and went to Old Navy.  I didn't really get to see her kids much on the trip (due to school, my nonstop napping, and them having activities and friends), so it was nice to spend an afternoon with Megan!  What a sweet girl.  Love her.

My flight home yesterday was eternal.  I had to fly through Baltimore, so the 2nd leg was 5 hours.  Blah.  Although I did get to spend some good time reading Mosiah, and I felt prompted to do and be better in some ways.  More on that soon.  I was happy to land!  And I was really happy to kiss my Nate and hug my munchkins.

As usual, I made a List of things that made us laugh.  Most of them I can't explain, so sorry about that!  You just had to be there....and DeAnn and I have the same sense of humor, so it's great!

-"Shut the beeping door!!" -DeAnn
-Our Josh Duhmel Fest:  DeAnn wanting to watch Ramona & Beezus, "A silo for my wheat!", Tad and Pete chopping wood in "Win a Date".  Josh always running into things in "When in Rome".  Comparing Josh to Fall in Ohio:  "You'd think I'd get used to him!"
-"I Wanna Marry Ryan Banks!!"  Being glad they changed the name to Reality of Love when DeAnn had to ask for it at the library!
-Devil Bunnies.  Not being able to remember it, but then Nate posting it on FB the next morning.
-Watching Safe Haven with annoying Jo.  Seeing it twice...instead of taking a nap.  "So if we leave now, we can make the 4:00 showing."  Pause... Me: "Oh you're serious! Okay!"
-Josh Duhmel's hilarious face in Safe Haven.
-Jonathan asking the sister missionaries if cheese sauce is gluten free, and then asking about canned chili.  DeAnn and I being embarrassed that it sounds like we were going to feed them crappy food!
-The very literal pasta descriptions at Panera.  Vessels, purses with delicate fans.
-Jonathan's button story from tracting on his mission.
-"What is Kitty's real name?"  "Buttons!"
-DeAnn and I being obsessed with the sister from the Isle of Man. Turns out she used to live in Newberg, Oregon!!  Random!
-Studio C:  "1-1-1-1."  "That is worst code ever."
-Suffering through "The Lucky One" again.  We kept meaning to count the sun-dappled montages, but there were just too many.  By the way, we prefer Zac Efron as funny and dance-y.  Not brooding.
-8 layers of meat on our Amish sandwiches
-Natalie's friends accidently ordering pizza for their friends in Arizona.
-Going a little crazy at Old Navy.  Buying matching clothes, as always.
-Doing a lot of things twice:  Safe Haven, Old Navy, Panera, Library, seeing the RANDOM turkey!!
-King-sized candy bars, brownies, fry pies, popcorn, soda, ice cream, pie.
-Wanting to buy big rings for our right hands, but not being sure if we can pull it off.

I didn't take any pictures.  Oops!  Can't have a post without pics, so hey...how about some Josh?

I love you, DeAnn!  Thanks for a great vacation!  Can't wait until the next one!!
