Summer Fun

Nate finished up his internship a little early and came home!  I was sitting at tae kwon do just reading my book, and he quietly walked in and sat next to me!  I about fell out of my chair!  I didn't expect him home until the 30th or so!  Great surprise!  It is so good to have him here with us.

We have been keeping busy.  We went to Spanish Fork and Salem during the week.  We met up with Standish and Gibson, from my MTC dongi.  I love seeing my elders!!  I haven't seen Standish since Korea!  Oh the stories we all have.  So fun!

We spent a few days in Salem.  We went to the pond and also to the big pool party/bbq that my dad's work puts on each summer.  I had so much fun going down the big water slides!  I felt like a kid again.

Claire actually ended up tripping and falling in.  Nate had to run in with his shoes on to grab her.  She didn't even flinch!  She was actually mad that he took her out of the water!

Yesterday we had Cameron's tae kwon do bbq/pool party as well.  It was up at a house in the upper Avenues, probably worth well over a million dollars.  Not too shabby!!

Check out that view!

Running update!!  Stop reading if you're sick of it.

This is going to sound awful, but one of the biggest reasons I was so happy Nate came early was then I could RUN more!  It was really tough finding babysitting during July so I could go.  I hated inconveniencing people and asking them to come over SO early so I could avoid the heat.  I truly have awesome friends!!

I have been driving up and then running down Emigration Canyon lately to get my body ready for all of the downhill pounding.  I did 9 miles last week and was really pleased with my pace.  I AM getting faster!!  I'm starting to see progress, and it really excites me!  My comfortable pace is now what used to be my uncomfortable pace.  I can also hold my sprinting pace for a little bit longer now.  I am starting to put a lot of pressure on myself to run a really good half in September.  I keep trying to remind myself that it's only my 2nd race, and I don't need to prove anything to anyone.  But at the same time, I want to push myself and see what I can do.  The distance doesn't intimidate me much this time around, so I am putting quite a bit of my training energy into speedwork over the next 5 weeks.  And trail runs!  I'm going on a trail run with my brother, Steve, this week.  Can't wait!
