Ogden 26.2: Week THREE

Yikes, Week Three is over!  Time is flying way too quickly for my liking.  These first few weeks never intimidated me, but now I'm starting to get nervous!

This week was good.  It was a "stepback" week, so less miles.  I'm still exhausted though!

I started this week off with a tough, but awesome run with 3 of my favorite ladies!  I mentioned on RA that the trails LOOKED clear, so I was planning on doing a short run up there on Monday morning.  Here is yet another reason that I love these peeps!  London drove from West Jordan, and Janet drove from Tooele just to run a few miles with me!  I cannot get over how much I adore my RA friends and how wonderful they make me feel!  Such sweethearts.

Ashley joined us, too.  We met at the trailhead and hiked up the big hill to warm up.  It was completely clear until we hit the top.  Then the entire Bonneville trail was pretty much covered in ice.  Ashley and London were pretty brave and kept a decent pace up, but Janet and I took our time.  The last thing I want to do is fall and break my leg right now!

When we hit Red Butte, we were going to turn around and go back, but we wanted to get some real running in, so instead we ran through campus back to Sunnyside.  We got back to the trail head and chatted for bit.  Then I got the best hugs ever from my dear girls.  How I adore them!  We hope to repeat this run again but with NO ice and more miles!

On Tuesday, I practically bounced into the PT room.  I could not wait to tell Derek how GREAT my hip has felt since last week!  He put me on the bike to warm up, and then we went through my exercises.  I'm still a gold star student!  He then stretched and massaged my hip some more.  He told me that if I promise to keep doing my exercises daily (which I will, of course!), then I can wait two weeks to come back.  And he said that appointment in two weeks will likely be my LAST!  I'm so thrilled.

On Wednesday, Ashley and I ran a little 3-miler around Foothill Loop.  When we hit 3 miles, we stopped and did a few sprint/walk intervals. At the end, we had to spring to catch Cam's bus so I could talk to the bus driver.  You had to be there, but I promise it was hilarious.

I made a big decision on Wednesday as well.  I officially switched from the Novice 1 plan to the Novice 2.  More miles.  Quicker build-up to higher mileage.  A little scary, but doable.

On Thursday I did 3 slow, icy miles.  It was dark, too.  And then Friday morning I went out and did 2 little miles simply so I could hit 75 for the month.  I'm pretty proud of that!  Plus, my friend, Ty, told me to throw in some slow 2-milers wherever I could just to keep building my mileage.

On Saturday, Nate's parents came to babysit so we could go out for our Anniversary.  So we did a 6-mile run together.  It is such a rare treat to get to run with my man!!  We ran down to Sugarhouse and back.  That's a tough, hilly run!  We took it easy and didn't push our pace.  Love my Nate!
